In accordance with the philosophy of Independent Living, the DPOC is committed to providing transport to disabled people to enable us to participate fully in community life.
DPOC currently owns and operates three accessible vehicles which are available to any disabled person in County Clare, whether for work, shopping, social activities, keeping appointments or even attending the DPOC IT training classes!
Our newest vehicle, affectionately known as 'Freedom Wheels', is a self-drive van which you can pick up and take without charge from our offices in Ennis. It is provided with a full tank of petrol, and all we ask is that it is returned the same way. Its smaller size, compared to our other vans, makes it more comfortable to use, with less distance between the wheelchair bay and the driver.
We do not see ourselves as transport providers but developers of a model of transport, accessible, affordable, reflecting the rural nature of the county, to be mainstreamed.
To find out more, or to book one of these vans, please contact the office on 065 6843488.
